At Shining Bear Designs, we believe that fashion can be a powerful tool for promoting reconciliation and fostering cultural understanding. Our mission is to use our designs to challenge stereotypes, celebrate Indigenous culture, and inspire positive change within the fashion industry.
Samantha’s Mission
Samantha, the visionary behind Shining Bear Designs, is dedicated to using fashion as a bridge for reconciliation. She aims to dismantle harmful narratives and promote cultural authenticity through her Wearable Teachings. By incorporating traditional designs and Indigenous wisdom into each piece, Samantha hopes to foster greater appreciation and understanding of Indigenous culture among both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
Community Projects and Collaborations
One of our most impactful collaborations is with Ninoshenh Counselling, an Anishinabe-owned business offering holistic services from an Indigenous approach. The name Ninoshenh means Auntie in Anishnabemowin, representing the vital role of Aunties in supporting the community.
Through our partnership, we aim to raise funds for Indigenous women and children, reducing financial barriers for birth workers, counselors, and more. Each piece of Shining Bear Designs apparel includes a postcard from Ninoshenh Counselling, spreading awareness and support for their essential services.
