Will my Shining Bear Designs clothes shrink?
Our clothes are pre-shrunk to ensure they maintain their size and fit. However, to keep your items in the best condition, we recommend following these care instructions:
- Hang on the Rez clothes line to keep them lasting long.
- Or use Aunty's dryer on Medium heat for a gentle dry.
Following these care instructions will help your Shining Bear Designs apparel stay beautiful and durable for years to come.
What do you do to the clothes? They smell so good.
I wash and pre shrink all my apparel after doing the design on them simply in Gain Washing Detergent and then dry.
Where are you from?
I am an Anishinaabe from Northern Ontario. I belong to Biigtigong Nishnaabek reserve, however, I grew up in a small mining town 1/2 hr away from my reserve.
Where do you get your blank materials?
I locally source all my apparel that I use to design and print on. I believe in trying to keep the local economy flowing. All my suppliers are within driving distance of my studio. That is important to me in case I need something right away.
Do you screenprint?
No - I use direct to film prints for all the writing and images that are not bleached out on my apparel. My lady supplier is located in Mission and is a lady boss. She is my Ally and provides amazing quality prints from all my designs. Triedandtruetransfers.com is who I collaborate with. Direct to film transfers are as good and are durable when cared for as directed.
Who does all the production?
I do all the designing and production. All are made in small batches with love and care.
